In early 2015, I came to a place of brokenness that I was desperate to get out of. God revealed how dry my spiritual life had become and I was led to pray for something that I had honestly been scared to pray for in all of my years as a Christian. I asked God for one thing: to take control of my life. I knew Jesus as Savior, but I had yet to allow him to be the sole ruler of my life. So I prayed that God would take everything. I was tired of living chained down by sin and I was worn out from trying to lord over my own life. I was already saved, but I wanted to once and for all, give everything to God.

Be careful what you pray for.

From there I entered into one of the most difficult seasons of my life. I had to come to terms with my identity with Christ. I had to give up sins that I had kept for myself. Probably the most difficult of all? I had to trust solely on Jesus’ strength to get me through. This season broke down my pride and pushed me to rely on the One who fights for me. It showed the effects of a particular sin and finally pushed me to discard it after years of fighting. Finally, it reminded me that my strength doesn’t have to be enough, because His is always enough.

That is not to say that this season hasn’t been filled with joys as well. I started an internship with a youth ministry that I am really enjoying. I have had a lot of quality family time that I hadn’t had enough of in a long time. I went to London not once, but twice and was extremely blessed by our friends there. Most comforting of all: My relationship with God is deeper than ever. The reason isn’t because of anything I’ve done or am doing. It also isn’t because I’ve figured out some secret to the Christian life. It’s because of who God is and who God says I am.

All that being said, this season in my life also led me to take on a new challenge: The World Race.

When I told God to take everything, He took me at my word. So in January of 2017, I will be going on an 11 month mission trip to 11 different countries to share the love of Christ and to spread the gospel. The World Race is run through Adventures in Missions and they offer several routes for believers to go and share the gospel with the nations. My particular route will be traveling to India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Greece, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Botswana, Swaziland, and South Africa. Ministry will look different from place to place, but some things we may be doing include prayer walking, building, painting, working with organizations that combat human trafficking, teaching English, running VBS, among other things. We will be working with people of all ages, from the children to the elderly.

As you can imagine, I am going to need a lot of help to be able to go on this trip so I would love for you to partner with me in this journey in any way possible. Here are some ways you can join my team:

  1. Pray. Prayer is what led me to the World Race and it is also going to help me through it as well. If you feel so led, please pray for me and my squad. Some areas in which we need prayer are health, safety, teamwork, encouragement, perseverance, that we demonstrate Christ’s love, and that God would bring salvation to those living in the communities we serve.
  2. Finances. This trip requires $17,017 to be raised. While the deadline for the full amount is a few months into the race, my goal is to have all of this money raised by the time we launch in January so that I may focus solely on the mission once we’re there. It may be difficult, but I believe in God’s provision. If you feel so led, please support me in this area.
  3. My blog. I will be updating this blog frequently about fundraising, world race news, and anything God lays on my heart. If you would like to stay up to date, please feel free to subscribe to my blog.

Any and all support given will help communities and people all over the world and will provide the means of sharing the gospel in places where people may have never heard the name of Jesus. Please let me know if you have any questions about the trip or how you can partner with me.

Also, I plan on doing a question and answer post soon as well regarding the World Race. So if you have any questions, please comment or message me and I’ll do my best to address them in that post! Thanks for reading!
